If you were on the fence about picking up a PS4, this might be the reason you were looking for to make the jump to the next generation of consoles. All signs point to the new Star Wars Battlefront game targeting only the newer consoles.
News is starting to come out about the various Star Wars developments going on at EA, with hype starting to build over the new entry in the Battlefront game series, which is a first-person shooter we haven’t visited since the original Xbox days in 2005.
What We Know About Star Wars Battlefront So Far
The game is being developed by DICE Studios; you may remember them as the group that brought us Battlefield: Bad Company.
According to the official news page, Star Wars Battlefront will see its “official” debut at the Star Wars Celebration event in Anaheim from April 16-19.
Star Wars Battlefront is the Tip of the Iceburg
In 2013 Disney announced a ten year deal with EA naming it the official publisher for games based on Star Wars. The company has tapped into top talent including Amy Hennig who led the way as Creative Director for the Uncharted series at Naughty Dog studios.
Although Star Wars Battlefront will not be based on the new film, the two will share themes and locations. Expect to see more games announced; standalone titles as well as ones that tie into the new movie as well as the upcoming spinoff films and series.
Are We Seeing Too Much Star Wars?
These days it feels like Star Wars news is coming from every direction. If Disney is good at anything, it’s dialling the hype machine all the way up to 11 and driving it for miles and miles.
