Silent Hills Suddenly Cancelled

If you’ve been looking forward to playing the newest Silent Hill title, you are going to have to keep waiting indefinitely. Production on Silent Hills has been cancelled due to director Hideo Kojima’s split with Konami.

Silent Hills was first revealed at the end of a playable teaser (P.T.) released on the Playstation Network. After facing random frights for an unspecific amount of time the player unlocked a video showing Norman Reedus coming across the icon Silent Hill streetscape. It was unexpected and delighted the whole Internet.

Silent Hills Won’t Be Coming

Despite the enormous success of the P.T. demo that created a huge amount of hype for a new entry to the Silent Hill franchise, publisher Konami has axed the project. Speculation began when fans noticed the P.T. was going to be removed from the PlayStation Store on April 29, 2015.

This weekend director Guilermo del Toro made comments at the San Francisco Film Society about the game project coming to an end.

Reedus confirmed in a tweet that the project was over and he was super bummed about it. The Internet got confused and erroneously reported that Reddus had died. He hasn’t.

Too bad. What we had seen up to this point looked great. No gameplay details have come to light yet, but the right team seemed to be in place to create a right twisted experience. All we can do is hope Konami sees enough potential in the community groundswell to make the deals that need doing for this title to see the light of day.
